Reframe before solving anything
The first problem someone hands you is usually not the real one. Before I get into solutions, I try to understand what's actually being asked, and that sometimes means sitting with ambiguity longer than feels comfortable, asking questions nobody has thought to ask yet. It takes more time upfront, but it's almost always cheaper than building the wrong thing well.
Structure earns trust. Instinct earns speed
Process matters because it gives people something to hold onto and makes decisions easier to defend. But after years working across fintech, sports tech, and data products, I've also learned to trust what I can't fully explain: knowing which direction is worth pursuing, what to put in front of users early, and where not to spend time. That instinct is what turns process into momentum.
Good design scales through people
The best work I've done hasn't always been the work I shipped. Sometimes it's a question I asked in a critique that changed the direction. A framework I introduced that the team kept using after I left. A junior designer who started thinking differently because we worked through a problem together. At some point the job stops being about your own output and starts being about what you make possible for others.
